Quakes shake in Jewell County

Earthquakes have been shaking the ground in Jewell County for months now with the most recent occurring at 7:57 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 with a 3.2 magnitude earthquake, several miles west of Jewell State Park. Another 2.4 quake struck at 8:58 a.m. on Thursday, north/northwest of the first – approximately two miles south of U.S. Highway 36 between 70 Road and 80 Road. A third quake of 2.4 occurred at 4:39 p.m. just west/southwest of Mankato. These followed the 2.9 magnitude quake felt at 9:15 a.m. near Esbon on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Zimmerman earns Symphonic Orchestra award

BELOIT – Four students from the Beloit High School Music Department attended the 74th Annual High Plains Music Camp at Fort Hays State University from Sunday, July 11 through Saturday, July 17. Students auditioned for seating and placement in camp Large and Small Ensembles on Sunday afternoon and attended rehearsals beginning Sunday evening.

SALINA — A Veteran Services Representative (VSR) from The Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs (KCVAO) Salina Field Office will be conducting regular visits to Concordia to assist veterans and family members in applying for state and federal benefits.
