Cawker City Senior Center set to re-open

CAWKER CITY – The Cawker City Senior Center (CCSC), closed for in-house eating and other group activities, is now set to re-open today on Monday, May 3, according to the CCSC Board. The facility, which was closed in March of 2020 due to the pandemic, has continued to deliver meals to local residents, both by meals-on-wheels delivery as well as by carry out, thus continuing to serve the nutrition needs of the Cawker City Senior population. The meals are delivered to the Cawker City site from the Glen Elder Nutrition Site, which cooks all the meals for not only Cawker City, but also the Beloit Senior Center, the Tipton Senior Center, as well as the host Glen Elder Senior Center.

Disaster Drill comes to life!

The North Central Kansas Technical College was host to a staged Disaster Drill on Thursday afternoon, complete with a staged explosion, and fictional medical treatments of simulated victims provided by make-up artist like Venus Geisler (above) from Geisler Mansion in Cawker City. Welding student Matt Rahjes volunteers to play the part with life-like injuries applied.
