St. John’ s/Tipton girls earn Substate Championship

The Lady Jays headed across town to Beloit High School Saturday to take on Logan/Palco for the 1A Division II Sub-State Championship. Logan was fresh off a commanding win against Thunder Ridge Thursday winning 54-38. They brought in a 10-11 record compared to the Lady Jay’ s 16-6 overall record. The Lady Jays were fresh off a 58-22 win over Pike Valley and ready to play. From the opening tip off the Lady Jays controlled the pace of the game. They eventually hoisted the championship trophy by defeating the Trojans 56-21 and now have the honor of taking on the 21-1 Central Plains Oilers who are currently ranked #1 in Kansas.

Tatem signs with Pratt

Beloit HIgh School senior, Tatem Tietjens-Peters signed with Pratt Community College on Thursday to play tennis at the college level. Tatem and Ashlyn Knight finished this years season at 17-6 and placed at State. “ Tatem worked hard in practice and improved a lot between her junior and senior year,” said Beloit Head Coach Darrell Kelley. “ She is a good athlete with a lot of potential for playing at the college level.” Shown at Tatem’ s signing from left to right are: Shale and Dawn Porter, Tatem Tietjens-Peters, Darren Peters.
