Landrey Isbell, 6th grader, won the Beloit Elementary Spelling Bee that was held on Jan. 11, 2023. The top five spellers will advance to the Mitchell County Spelling Bee that will be held Feb. 8 in the Tipton Community Building, Tipton, Representing BES at the Mitchell County Spelling Bee are: Isbell, champion; Lenae Lamb, 6th grade; Liam Abercrombie, 5th grade; Cain Cheney, 5th grade; and Brevin Schroeder, 5th grade. Madysen Stillwell, 5th grade, is the alternate.The spelling bee follows the same rules as the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Competition became increasingly harder as the contest progresses.
