Historical Society says no to KNNHA project

Kyle Peterson and Vickie Mears, representing the Mitchell County Historical Society, and Matt Schroder also appeared as a private citizen during Monday's Mitchell County Commissioners meeting. Petterson said they were present in response to the proposed National Heritage Area (NHA) covering north western Kansas and South western Nebraska. Petterson reported that at the Society’s Board meeting on Sunday, Margaret Moore made a motion for the group to not support the Kansas-Nebraska Heritage area. Her motion passed.

FEMA to help COVID-19-related death funeral costs

WASHINGTON – In early April, FEMA will begin providing financial assistance for funeral expenses incurred after Jan. 20, 2020 for deaths related to Coronavirus (COVID-19) to help ease some of the financial stress and burden caused by the pandemic. The policy was finalized, and FEMA is now moving rapidly to implement this funeral assistance program nationwide.
