Practical Nursing students host Youth Health Fair

BELOIT – The NCK Technical College Practical Nursing program, recently prepped their annual Pediatric Health Fair at Beloit Elementary School. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions last year this event was unable to take place, but the nursing students made up for it this year as they dressed as tooth fairies and pineapples and played an interactive role in each student’s health education.

Swanson earns Hod Humiston Award

BELOIT – John Swanson of KVSV AM-FM Beloit has been selected for the 2021 Hod Humiston Award for sports broadcasting. The award honors an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of sports broadcasting as well as work in the community. The award is named for Hod Humiston who was the first television sportscaster in Kansas when he did play-by-play coverage of college games for KTVH (now KWCH TV).

Round 2……KSU Cattle Conversations online series

MANHATTAN – Have you wondered why maybe your pasture wasn’t as productive for your cowherd? Or how about how to control that pesky buckbrush or red cedar? Don’t forget to join our “Round 2”, short online cattle series programs, “Cattle Conversations”, brought to you by K-State Research and Extension along with Districts, Post Rock, Central Kansas, Cottonwood, Midway and River Valley. These series of programs will be held every Thursday in April starting on the 1st at 10 a.m. and will cover a different topic each week. The topics and dates for these programs are:

Wild fire burns around nine acres

The Mitchell County Fire District #3 was dispatched around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 29, to a wild fire at Windy Ridge, two miles east on No. 9 highway. This followed after Gov. Laura Kelly issued another State of Disaster declaration on Sunday, due to high risk of wild fires and red flag warnings for most Kansas counties.
